Gordon’s Place

Now that I’ve done all the fun bits, got a new domain setup, installed WordPress, messsed around with the settings, the templates and the plugins, I guess I’m going to have to write something. So, it would seem sensible to kick-off with an agenda and and introduction. What’s this blog all about?

I hope the title says it all. It’s my place and, to be frank, I’m going to do with it whatever I want. That’s not to say I don’t have an agenda, more to say that this is an experiment for me and that the agenda may change over time. What I’m planning at the moment is to follow the old maxim and “Write What You Know”, which for me means software design and development, the Progress 4GL and technology generally. I’m also thinking about longer, more detailed posts as a general rule, something like the articles I’ve already written on my company site. One of the things that I want to get back out of this site is the opportunity to improve and develop my writing skills, and I believe the longer, essay format will better suited to this. The obvious implication of this will be less frequent posting, so you might want to consider using the RSS feed.

So, occaisonal, longer, detailed posts on Progress, development and technology. Probably.
