Opening Lines
Published May 17th, 2006 in MiscThere are three novels sitting on my desk, all newly arrived from Amazon. I couldn’t work out which one to start on first ( kid in the sweet shop syndrome ), so I read the first sentence of each. Which do you fancy? The first one hooked me.
Some hours before dawn Henry Perowne, a neurosurgeon, wakes to find himself already in motion, pushing back the covers froma sitting position, and then rising to his feet.

Shadow had done three years in prison.

Decided to check your photos out and found your blogs. First line sounds great. Makes me feel like running home now, grabbing a book, and popping out to a nice cafe or park nearby on prob one of the last good days here….!
Is the first one from “Saturday” by any chance? Have not a clue about the others…!
